Written by Canadian legend Shari Ulrich, arranged by Kate
Polsky, this beautiful song relates the many stages of our lives...
Shari Ulrich is a Canadian
Composer, originally a Californian, who has recorded 7 albums of
original
songs, and a dozen more with other trios - Pied Pumkin, Ulrich
Henderson Forbes
(UHF), and Bentall, Taylor & Ulrich - as an artist and
multi-instrumentalist. She and partner
Bill Runge have done several
choral arrangements of her songs, but Kate Polsky's selection of
"Changed
Forever" to arrange for Elektra is a first for Shari
and a special honour. Shari says of
the song, "My
father-in-law inspired this piece the evening his wife of 40 years
passed away.
He shared stories about his life with me that he'd never shared with
anyone. I
felt very privileged. Telling his story expanded into the theme of how
birth, death,
love, war, and the myriad of life events, forever change the lives of
those
they touch - in an instant." This song was originally recorded on UHF
II.

Kate says of the
song: "When initially inspired to arrange a work for
Elektra written by a female Canadian artist, "Changed Forever" was
the first and only song to come to mind. Elektra's
members represent virtually every stage of a woman's
life, and I don't know a single woman who hasn't experienced at least
one thing
Shari has written about in this song - I imagined Elektra as I arranged
the
piece and know that many lives will indeed be 'changed forever' when
they hear
Shari's incredible song sung by what I hope is only the first of many
women's
choirs to perform it."
