This
project is one of my proudest achievements…eight women
upgraded their employability skills and found work in fields
specifically related to their training with the assistance
of funds raised through this project. As a result, each woman
was able to get off of government assistance. Even though
the Foundation was not able to reach its goal of establishing
second-stage
transitional housing for battered women and their children,
they were quite successful with their youth programs, one
where teenagers and young adults could apprentice as bicycle
mechanics,
and another called Innerstart, which was a centre for conflict
resolution and mediation. NOTE: There is no current contact
information for The Sanctuary Foundation. |
